Troop #466 Troop #466 is from Mt Comfort The second year Daisy troop completed a Pet Food & Supply Drive for ReTails, pet rescue group. The girls worked half the year on this project. They started by doing helpful chores around their house for spare change. Spare change was brought in every meeting and counted and saved. We collected this money for about two and a half months.
In March the girls took their money they earned by doing chores, combined with some cookie money, and spent money on dog and cat food, treats, brushes, shampoo and other supplies for the animals. Next, in April the girls held a drive at Petsmart and asked for donations from customers. Between the donations from others and what the girls bought they raised about $140 cash and about $400 in product/supplies. Now, the girls are delivering these goodies to the organization, ReTails, located in Washington Square Mall, and visit with the animals. While there they also learn about taking care of pets so that they can use this new knowledge to help teach others and be a better pet owner too! The picture below are the girls ready to shop for the animals! Proud of the girls for being great example for other kids, adults and their community! |
